General Intensive English
Your Study Plan
With a one to one course, it is vital the lessons meet your needs and the way you like to study. At the start of the course you will complete oral and written assessments. After discussion, your teacher will outline a study plan for you which will be reviewed daily to ensure you make the most progress possible.
Full records are kept. An attendance Certificate is provided at the end of the stay; a formal report on request.
Living and Learning – tuition and practice
You may prefer all formal tuition working from text books, newspapers and media. Develop good communication skills with emphasis on speaking and listening or choose to spend more time on your reading and writing. Perhaps revise structure or extend your vocabulary to ‘say what you mean’ and ‘mean what you say’!
Alternatively take advantage of some lessons in real situations outside ‘the classroom’ putting your studies into practice with your teacher to monitor and advise.
Your Free Time
Free time is spent with your teacher and family. Share their activities and family visits. Enjoy mealtimes and activities like shopping, watching TV & films, meeting friends and family – use the language at all times.
Your teacher will show you around the local area and its places of interest. Relax with a chat and a coffee at the cafe, or order a pint at the ‘local’ pub. If you want to explore further, teachers have details of major tourist attractions and can help you plan your visits.
Additional modules
We are pleased to offer a range of variations on the standard course for those who are looking for something a little different during their stay in the UK.
Perhaps, learn about English birds, their habitats and the countryside or you might like to share a passion for 60’s music or photography.
Alternatively are you interested in history, heritage or art? Why not see Britain by bike?
For example a 15 hour course could be split into 10 hours of language lessons and five hours with your chosen subject. Or 5 hours and 10 hours.
Subject could include:
- English cookery
- Painting & Sculpture
- Arts & crafts
- Cycling
- Photography
- History, Heritage & People
- Wood-work
- Literature
- Bird Watching & the countryside
- Music
- Flowers & Gardens
- Political and economic history
- Theatre
- Cinema/Films
Please ask if there is anything specific you would like to do and we will try to meet your requirements.
